A lead voice in Marketing in Maritime

Oh, what a show.

For two days in April, the great and the good of the world’s maritime industry gathered at Mercedes World, Brooklands for the inaugural Marketing in Maritime event, a programme created by Wake Media and partnered by us.

Businesses from across the industry were represented from Alfa Laval to Wärtsilä, Damen to DNV GL, convening for 48 hours of presentations, conversations and networking opportunities.

Once Steve Parks, the creator of the event, and I had welcomed attendees, two days of presentations from marketing experts from inside and outside the industry kicked off. Subjects included best practice in CRM and marketing automation, digital strategy, the role of the publisher and the growing importance of developing an internal culture of innovation and creativity (a presentation given by our own Director of Innovation, Andy Cutbill).

Opinions were debated, new opportunities harvested and conversation went on long into the night. And by the time the 48hours were spent, it was widely acknowledged that ‘MiM’ had great potential as a valuable learning platform and as a powerful influence within the industry. 

So what next? Plans to grow the event and to maximise its impact as a community are now being put into place, and as we at Oakwood help develop those, we look forward to playing our part as Lead Partner with Wake Media for a long time to come.
